Our origins

Our farm, one of the 40 ancient farms known as the Urhöfe of Sexten, was built by the Counts of Gorizia. It was first mentioned in a document at the end of the 13th century.
Just as our ancestors fed themselves as self-supporters back then, we want to continue this tradition. By rearing our animals for the farm's own meat and growing vegetables and various herbs and berries in the garden, we produce quality products which we process into many traditional dishes.
We have lovingly renovated our 700-year-old farmhouse so that it meets today's requirements. Our first priority was the preservation of the farm's character and history.

Dear guests and friends!

In summer 2021 we will be back for you!
Full of optimism, ambition and energy we start into the summer!
We look forward to your (non-binding) enquiry!

Yours sincerely, Stabinger family

What awaits you with us?

Experience the everyday life of a farmer

On a farm, there is always something going on, the animals are fed and milked. You are welcome to watch the milking process and to help feed the animals. Once a week you can take a closer look at farming. Farmer Paul or a young farmer will accompany you.

In summer, farmer Margith shows you the farm garden. On Sundays, when the bakery of the local baker is closed, our old bread oven is fired up. If you are interested, you are welcome to see this old tradition in the early morning.

Your hosts

Just as Grandma Maria has lovingly looked after the well-being of our guests for more than 50 years, we too are constantly striving to expand our range of services with ambition. Each and everyone of us is passionate about the hospitality industry and gives his or her best to make your stay an unforgettable experience.

We love getting to know our guests, that is why we would like to use this page to briefly introduce ourselves too: On our farm there are 7 people who work on the farm and take care of your well-being.

the farm owner, is a farmer with heart and soul, cares for all the livestock, also manages the forest and brings in his outstanding ideas, which make our offer something special.

the good soul of the house, takes care of you wherever needed and tries to fulfil every wish. She is passionate about her special hobby, gardening. She is always inspired by new experiments so that even more different products can be turned into delicious specialities.

the eldest of the 3 children, a trained cook, conjures up the fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden, the farm's own meat into culinary delicacies, whereby regionality and sustainability are very important to him.

the second oldest, our young farmer and trained carpenter, actively helps on the farm and does everything that needs to be done on the farm and is also responsible for the various repairs.

our youngest of the gang, has successfully completed her apprenticeship in hotel management and is a trained patisseuse, and always surprises us with her creativity. Let us surprise you!

spoils our cats every day and still does everyday chores.

is still working, but helps out in her spare time, looks after the balcony flowers, which always turn into a splendour of blossoms, and is also an energetic help with the washing up in the kitchen.
